    We provide NDT, new construction, maintenance, and inspection services in all aspects of the oil and gas industries, including exploration, transmission, refining, storage facilities, and all oil related support industries.


    Position Purpose

    • The Sr. HSE Specialist will support the JANX Health, Safety, and Environmental program to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintain strong field presence through employee engagement this includes but is not limited to field and office visits, building a relationship with the field crews, Division Managers, and other staff to become a trusted safety partner.
    • Ensure that internal and external HSE audits are conducted as needed. This will include shop, facility, and external job site audits; work with the Senior HSE Manager and the Compliance Managers to ensure HSE field audits are being done correctly and non-compliances are reported and corrected immediately.
    • Identify requirements, develop and ensure the provision of appropriate health, safety, and environmental information and ensure effective communication of such.
    • Effectively prepare and present information and respond to HSE related questions, data requests or concerns from group.
    • Arrange and participate in the ongoing inspections of shop and office facilities and work sites for unsafe work practices or conditions and initiate corrective actions by assessing and making effective recommendations, reporting results and corrective actions to the HSE Manager.
    • Ensure in-depth worksite inspections and audits and job hazard analysis for key and hazardous job tasks are being complete.
    • Educate the JANX organization so they know to immediately stop any work where there is imminent danger to an individual at a worksite.
    • On an on-going basis monitor program documentation to ensure that all incidents are being reported.
    • Participate in the investigation of reported incidents, reportable incidents and document and initiate corrective actions whenever necessary in conjunction with the HSE Manager.
    • Prepare and circulate Incident Alerts and memos to all personnel in conjunction with the HSE Manager.
    • Assist in all aspects of an effective organizational HSE training program.
    • Assist in the orientation of new staff in worker HSE responsibilities, policies, procedures and practices, ensuring effective training and meeting departmental requirements.
    • Assist with claims management - ensure proactive involvement in injury reduction and accident prevention strategies.
    • Assist with the management and development of the program to reduce lost time claims, ensuring that all required communications and training is provided to both employees and managers.
    • Ensure a complete filing system and departmental records are maintained.
    • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to all Health, Safety and Environmental Management initiatives.
    • Provide mentoring, coaching, counseling to employees regarding safety-related issues
    • Provide PPE recommendations to workers based on risk or exposure
    • Follow and enforce the Company required safe work practices and procedures at all times.
    • Follow and enforce Company policies at all times.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and promote a positive customer service attitude internally and externally
    • Enforce and abide the requirements of safe operation and personal safety using required Personal Protective Equipment and Safe Practices per company policy
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment for all junior HSE Specialists and/or HSE Coordinators within JANX, ensuring all company policies are being followed
    • Maintain HSE Specialist/Coordinator job results by coaching, and counseling employees; monitoring  job results in partnership with human resources.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Thorough knowledge of environmental, health and safety laws and rules for both federal and state requirements.
    • The ability to understand the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner and ability to manage multiple priorities.

    Education and Work Experience

    • 10+ years of related HSE experience; preferred experience working in a union environment.
    • Bachelors or Associates degree or equivalent work experience and/or
    • 5 + years of progressive supervisory work experience preferred.
    • Employees must be legallyauthorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Certificates and Licenses Required

    • CHST or OHST certification is required.
    • Professional Certifications, such as the CSP, CIH, and/or SMS would be a plus.
    • OSHA Outreach Trainer credentials a plus.
    • Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.

    Working Conditions

    • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and working environment
    • May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
    • The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud when working on project site.
    • Overtime may be required during the week and weekend with work volume.
    • Ability to travel when required, nationally, up to 70% of the time.
    • Ability to be flexible with work schedules and respond to requests without advance warning or notification.
